Areia Branca lies 330 km from the state capital, Natal, and just as suggested by its name, the city of Areia Branca is known for its beautiful paradisiac white sand beaches, dunes and cliffs, plus a territorial portion dominated by the interior, presented one of the richest and variable geographical formations of Rio Grande do Norte state. White Sand is also remembered for its massive production of salt, which earned him the title of “Land of Salt”.

The closest beaches of Ponta do Mel, only place where the sertão (very dry region) meet the sea, is a little village with a just weekly tourism from the richest city of Mosoro’. The dunes and a spectacular red rock Kenyon surround the white sands beaches. It really seems to be at the end of a desert where the sea meet one of the driest land of Brazil.

The praia de São Cristovão, or just Cristovão, as it is known is a great beach for those who like dune surrounded tranquility and a visual paradise, warm shallow waters ideal for swimming. For those who like adventure tourism, is also the ideal place with its dunes and cliffs, a hill divide the beach in two, one side ponds shallow waters on the other the sea is busier and background.

The praia de Redonda is quiet, calm water beach, has beautiful dunes, with good white sand with perfect landscape.
This beach is still underused due to the lack of access by the community village access. An attempt to access opening between the dunes was made by the bodies of the municipality, but the environmental control not allowed. Anyway, it’s worth exploring and visiting.

Rio Grande do Norte “Great Northern River”, in reference to the mouth of the Potenji River, is one of the states of Brazil, located in the northeastern region of the country, occupying the northeasternmost tip of the South American continent. Because of its geographic position, Rio Grande do Norte has a strategic importance. The capital and largest city is Natal. It is the land of the folklorist Luís da Câmara Cascudo and, according to NASA, it has the purest air in the Americas. Its 410 km (254 mi) of sand, much sun, coconut palms and lagoons are responsible for the fame of beaches. Rocas Atoll, the only such feature in the Atlantic Ocean, is part of the state.

The main economic activity is tourism, followed by the extraction of petroleum (the second largest producer in the country), agriculture, fruit growing and extraction of minerals, including considerable production of seasalt, among other economic activities. The state is famous for having many popular attractions such as the Maior cajueiro do mundo (world’s largest cashew tree), the dunes and the dromedaries of Genipabu, the famous beaches of Ponta Negra, Maracajaú and Pipa’s paradise, the Carnatal the largest off-season carnival in Brazil, the Forte dos Reis Magos is a sixteenth-century fortress, the hills and mountains of Martins, the Dunas Park the second largest urban park in the country, and several other attractions. The state is also closest to the archipelago of Fernando de Noronha.
