VISIT OF THE DEPUTY-PRESIDENT OF THE TOGO NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

BRUSSELS – Dr Komi Selon Klassou, the first deputy-president of the national assembly of Togo came to Brussels at the Press Club  to explain the constitutional changes in his country.

Dr Komi Selon Klassou, who graduated from the University of Bordeaux was received in brussels bij His excellency  Félix Kodjo SAGBO, Ambassador of Togo to the Benelux countries, the Holy See and the European Union.

Dr Klassou explained Togo was using consensus and negociations in the political processus to reform the policital institutions of the country, according to the Togolese consitution. The elections for the house of representatives which had to take place in october 2012 have been postponed due to the absence of consensus between the majority and a diversified opposition regarding to the modalities of organisation of this election. To avoid violences, the elections have been postopned to continue political discussions and implement the existing constitution.

Dr Klassou explained measures already taken to ensure a free democratic election with fairness and security of the votes.

This conference gave the numerous attendees a clear view of the nowadays political situation in Togo.
