The Filmaker Mandula Bao presented his last movie “Necessity” at the River Film Festival in Padua on 12th June.

A happily married man chats with a female masseuse. Their conversation forces him to question the way he sees the world.

We interviewed Mandula and Jin the actor:

Mandula was born and raised in Inner Mongolia. He studied business at HEC Paris, in France, and later moved to Singapore where he is currently based. A self-taught filmmaker and photographer, Mandula’s work explore dichotomies in modern life, between cultures, social classes, corporate hierarchies, traditional and contemporary values, and idealism versus realism.

He has produced and directed three short films to date, that have been recognized by festivals that have included the Montecatini International Short Film Festival, the Greece International Film Festival, and the Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival.
