Veneto Agora’ Cinema meet Juliana Block, green producing in film

In the frame of the River Film Festival on 7-8th July was held the Veneto Agora’ Cinema a special event dedicated to the local network that makes audiovisual productions possible and to the territory that inspires and supports them. Two full days of meetings to explore the dynamics and opportunities offered by the Veneto region in the fields of film training, production, promotion, and distribution. A chance to showcase the unique features of a region rich in history and culture, with a strong entrepreneurial fabric and great potential for growth in the audiovisual sector.

The four themed panels — TRAINING, PRODUCTION, PROMOTION, and VALORISATION — featured sector experts, directors, producers, and representatives of local institutions. They addressed the challenges and opportunities for cinema in the Veneto region, with a special focus on promoting local resources and building an ecosystem that nurtures creativity and innovation. The Festival’s AGORÀ, hosted the first edition of the Audiovisual Market, where production companies and twinned festivals from Veneto met the public, alongside the international competition of the now well-established Virtual Reality section.

We interviewed Juliana Block Producer and Green Consultant – Raav films on the theme of Green producing in film:

I believe that, as filmmakers, we all need an audience to showcase our work. To keep creating, we also need to contribute to the collective effort of producing carbon-neutral films. That’s why I trained to become a green consultant in 2022. Since then, I’ve advised feature films, documentaries, and short films on how to reduce their carbon footprint and adopt greener production practices.
I truly enjoy meeting other filmmakers, discussing their projects, and collaborating to find ways to make productions more eco-friendly.
