“From all of us at the European Parliament, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!” – says the announcement on the site of the EP under an image, pictured above.
‘In 2017 MEPs will again be working on a series of legislative proposals to make Europe a better place’, – says the following line. Does the EP start to appreciate Europe’s Christian roots? 🙂
Whatever the current state of mind of modern legislators is the historic facts remain in favor of the Christian basement of the EU. The ‘founding fathers” of the of the European project: Robert Schuman, Konrad Adenauer, and Alcide de Gasperi all three of them being Christians shared a prayer moments together in a Benedictine Monastery on the Rhine before signing the Treaty of Paris in 1951, the document establishing the European Coal and Steel Community – the foundation of the European Economic Community to develop further in the contemporary European Union.
Merry Christmas to all readers of Brussels Diplomatic!
