31 Heads of Belgian Diplomatic Missions assigned abroad #belgium #MfA #diplomacy

Didier REYNDERS (MR), belgian minister of foreign affairs

The King approved the assignment of 31 Heads of Diplomatic Missions, as proposed by Foreign Minister Didier Reynders. The assignments for the bilateral missions will be effective only after the host countries have given their approval (‘agrément’). The new Heads of Mission will take office during the Summer period.

This decision applies to the following missions and people (current function indicated between parentheses):

Embassies

  • Algiers, Algeria: Mr. Pierre Gillon (currently Counsellor at the Permanent Representation to the UN in Geneva)
  • Baku, Azerbaijan: Mr. Bert Schoofs (currently Advisor to the Policy Planning, Conflict Prevention and Peace Consolidation department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
  • Bangkok, Thailand: Mr. Philippe Kridelka (currently Secretary General at the Royal Palace)
  • Brasilia, Brazil: Mr. Dirk Loncke (currently Director Western Europe, Central Europe and North America, Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
  • Bujumbura, Burundi: Mr. Bernard Quintin (currently Consul General in Rio de Janeiro)
  • Copenhagen, Denmark: Mr. Leo Peeters (currently Director Press and Communication, Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
  • Kinshasa, DR Congo: Mr. Bertrand de Crombrugghe de Piquendaele (currently Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva)
