Didier Reynders commemorates victims of Srebrenica in Bosnia and Hercegovina. Didier Reynders, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders will travel to Srebrenica in Bosnia and Hercegovina to commemorate the massacre that happened there exactly 20 years ago. It was a black period for Europe.

On 11 July 1995, Srebrenica was taken by Bosnian Serb troops led by general Ratko Mladic, and thousands of Muslim men and boys were systematically abducted and murdered, simply because of who they were.

Many among them were never found. The Minister will participate with other dignitaries in the ceremony in the Potocari Memorial Center in Srebrenica. The mayor and representatives of victims’ associations will receive him. Together they will meet the Mothers of Srebrenica, who lost their husbands and children in this tragedy. At the cemetery, the Minister will pay tribute to the victims and lay flowers at the memorial sign dedicated to them. This terrible recent event shows that we must continue to fight against anti-Semitism, racism and other forms of hatred and intolerance. The recognition of these acts of genocide is necessary for a reconciliation between the people of Bosnia and Hercegovina.
