Speaking at today’s European Energy Union Conference in Riga, EPIA President Oliver Schaefer said “we should not tinker at the edges to build the Energy Union; we should be visionary and pave the way for a new system based on large renewable energy shares and on complementary flexibility technologies, rather than protecting the technologies of the past like coal and nuclear, even if this requires the overhaul of today’s market rules”.
