The King of Spain, Juan Carlos took the decision to resign. It was annonced early this morning by the Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.

The King of Spain has been reigning since the death of Francisco Franco who restaured the monarchy in Spain (1976-2014).

The King will be replaced by his son: Prince Felipe of Asturias, 46  years old.

There will be a special council of minister tomorrow tuesday to start the constitutional process of succession because a special act has to be voted by the spanish parliament according the spanish constitution.
