In an area of economy, politics and sociology, a small community in the provinces of Benevento  has the honor to organise, since seven years, the World Water Day, with the intention to reflect about real issues for the survival and the liveability of “our” present. The small community, named Sassinoro, became “Il paese dell’acqua” (“The village of water”) not only because it was able to value the water sources but for the capacity to transform us in a big stage and  lead a debate concerning the subject.

To trace the story of this initiative, to deign to remember for the route of the actions, we need to emphasize that  the construction of a power plant, active since one year, will  support the green economy from the local community.

The new edition of “Sassinoro, paese dell’acqua” was born from a vision that was shared  to be put into action in an innovative experience which see  the actors and their ideas as the protagonists.

Traditionally, the event is organised and proportioned by Marco Iamiceli (vice-mayor of Sassinoro) with the support of the forum giovani (youth forum) and the pro-loco. This year it starts the collaboration with Tabula Rasa  to give a sign and valorise the activity and reality from the youth of the territory.

As it was in the last years, the schools (like primary schools and infancy schools from Sassinoro), the bodies, the associations (music association, pro- loco and youth forum), the experts and the firms will activate some workshops for the sensivity, debate about some issues like ecology and agriculture.

In the program we have some guests, apart from these who are at km zero (city councils, Gal Alto Tammaro, Comunità Montana). For example: Ugo Mattei from the ABC of Naples, Roberto Casari from CPL Concordia, Davide Tabarelli from Nomisma Energy, the sociologist Bruno Turra, the antropologist Maurizio Gnerre, Paolo Gurisatti and the representatives from the association WWF, Il Palio del Grano, Il Genio delle due Sicilie, Green Communities.

We invite everyone to participate at the world water day 2014. It is open to all and it is free. It could be a moment and a way to talk to our awareness, not only  concerning an important topic, but for our enthusiasm to stimulate a new wave of changes in our territory. Sassinoro is “il paese dell’ acqua” (“the water village”) because it is able to create new energies and start up trough the water and the earth to arrive to the future.
