NATURE NAMUR FESTIVAL
“Nature Namur Festival”, ftill October 20th.
Last friday, Carlo Di Antonio, Minister of the Nature of the walloon regional governement opened the 19th. “Nature Namur Festival”, in Jambes-Namur, with the movie “Once upon a Forest” (78′, Luc Jacquet/France), a french speaking film with English subtitles.
Two films’ competitions will be offered to thousands of peope in the “Acinapolis” movie theatre, near to the Jambes’ railway station. One with 15 short films (no more than 5′) made by amators (“Gala” on Saturday October 12th., at 8 p.m., being shown again on Sunday October 13th., at 2 and 5 p.m.) and the second one opened to Professional movie makers (15 films from 22 untill 90′).All Professional films will be shown two times, between October 13th., at 8 p.m. (“Danube, Europ’s Amazon River – From the Black Forest to the Black Sea”, 51′, 3000 km of water crossing nine countries, made by Rita and Schlamberger/Austria, and “Savage Seasons of Chambord”, 52′, in the Castle’s Park of 5440 ha, made by Laurent Charbonnier/France) untill October 19th., at 2 p.m. (“From the Bush untill the hear”, 52′, with two children discovering the Nature in Botswana and Australia, made by Luc Marescot/France, and “Schladming Land of Chamois”, 50′, made in the Austrian Alps, by Franz Hafner/Austria). The same day, at 8 p.m., we have the “Professional Films’ Gala”, with 4 prices given to the best films (Jury’s President : Guy Lemaire, “RTBF” Journalist).
Also, don’t forget to see “Volcanies’ Memory” (83′, from India to Reunion’s Island, by François de Riberolles/France), “The Moor” (50′, in Germany, Sweden and Tchec Republic, by Jan Haft/Germany), “Secrets of the North Sea” (90′, in the Norwedjan fjords, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, …, by Klaus Muller/Germany), “Dust and Stripes” (52′, showing the most important zebras’ population from Africa, in Botswana, by Adrian Bailey/Austria), “Abyssinie, the call of the Wolf” (52′, on top of the Ethiopian hills, by Laurent Joffrion/France) and “Snowly Owl, Queen of the North” (52′, where we discover a birds’ family, by Matt Hamilton and Fergus Beeley/Austria). Not in competition, on October 14th., at 8 p.m., “Naturopolis, the green Revolution” (89′, the Nature in big cities, also in Paris, Tokyo and Rio of Janeiro, by Bernard Guerrini/France), on October 18th., at 2 p.m., “Congo Nature” (69′, in 4 National Parks of the East of the Democratic Republic, by Tanguy Dumortier/Belgium) and, on October 20th., at 8 p.m., to close the Festival, one English speaking film, “Africa – BBC Worldwide” (in Kalahari, the oldest world’s destert, by Felicity Egerton/United Kingdom).
Mornings and afternoons, we have some films, with a animation on the Nature, offered to elementary and high schools studends. For your pleasure, the “Acinapolis” movie theatre is decorated by more than 3000 plants. Also, in the main hall, you find a “Nature Village” (by exemple to learn how ta take pictures or made films on savage animals, wich is not easy if you want to do it for the first time), a “Video Academy” and not less than14 great photos exhibitions (some being located at the first floor). On October 13th., at 4 p.m., 12 prices will be offered to the best photographers, including one for the best photo made by a teenager, younger than 15 years old. So, sure, you can start early to take nice pictures of the Nature.On the other side of the Meuse River, 28 other wonderfull exhibitions are showned downtown Namur – including 5 in the Governor’s Palace – and going up to the top of the Citadel, by the Route (“Road”) Merveilleuse. Definitively, from the African Deserts or Forests untill the cold Artic Region, crossing the National Parks “La Vanoise”, “Great Paradise” or others all around our world, you will see, films and photos of so many different animals in a so merveillous Nature. One event you cann’t miss if you are a Nature’s lover. In 2012, not less than 30000 people, from different countries, visited Namur, at least for some hours, to take part of the most important European Festival on the Nature.
