FOLK FESTIVAL OF JAMBES-NAMUR

From August 16th. untill August 19th, Jambes, part of the City of Namur, welcomes you to her 54th. “Folk Festival“, with folk companies coming from Brazil, Cuba, France (Provence), India, Macedonia, Ukraine and Belgium (local folk’s company of “Masuis and Cotelis”).

There will be four shows, taking place in the elementary school of the Queen Astrid Park (“Parc Reine Astrid”) of Jambes :

– Friday August 16th, at 02:30 p.m.

– Saturday August 17th., at 08:00 p.m.

– Sunday August 18th., at 03:00 p.m.

– Monday August 19th., at 08:00 p.m.

 

Tickets at the gate (15€/Special Prices for teenagers from 7 untill 12 years old : 8€ and Seniors Citizen : 12€/For the 4 shows : 50€, 30€ or 42€/Free untill 06 years old).

 

Also, for 5€ only, you can take part of a “latino american” evening, on Sunday August 18th., at 08:00 p.m., learning to dance the “salsa” with the musicians and dancers of Brazil and Cuba. By calling to 081/32.23.30, you can book for one authentic “Chili con Carne”, before to dance, at 06:30 p.m. (15€ for one dish).

 

Short free shows will be offered in the garden of the City Hall of Namur, on Saturday August 17th., at noon (with some welcome drinks for the audience, the  dancers and the musicians) and on the Square of Wallonie (“Place de la Wallonie”) in Jambes, on Sunday 18th. (right after they singued and/or plaid music in the Catholic Church “Saint Symphorien” of Jambes, starting at 09:45 a.m.).

 

So, from the latin american rythems untill those of east european countries, as well as from the South of France or from India, you will enjoyed the musical traditions of three different continents. Welcome in Jambes and don’t hesitate to dance the “salsa” with Brazil and Cuba.
