Recently, the events foundation organised the event “I am Europe” to bring citizens closer to the european idea.It’s the occasion the present the Evens foundation which is not known enough.

The Evens foudation is born in the mind of a belgian couple: Georges Evens and Irene Evens-Radzmynska. They fled Poland to settle in Belgium. Georges Evens had a succesfull career in the world of jewels in Antwerp. They wanted to start a philanthropic foundation with as background giving society  back what it gave them, eliminating haterd, racism, empowering socially weaker people. The foundation  has  with 3 main workin directions:

– peace education

– education to use of media

– helping to develop the european citizenship.

The foundation either finances its owns projects either helps other charities and foundations which follow the same goals.

The foundation works from three offices: Antwerp, Paris and Warsaw.

Let’s give some exemples of the action of the Evens foundation.

1/ peace education. Some projects: project to teach children a open attitude towards people from other cultures, implementation of the Peace Factory, prevention and intervention programs for violent youth in Europe,….

2/ media education. Some projects: empowering teachers, project to help young people acquiring video-making skills, support for local structures of media production (streetpress project)

3/ european citzenship. Some projects: awards for european journalism, film I’m Europe, youthempowerment and partnership program.

The foundation is honorary chaired by the daughter of the founders, Corinne Evens and Luc Luyten is the chairman of the Evens foundation.
