UK ENERGY AND CIMATE SECRETARY EDD DAVY IN BRUSSELS

The European branch of the British Lib Dems   welcomed the UK’s Energy and Climate Secretary Ed Davey MP as a special guest to their 2013 Summer Party this week. Ed  who is one of the Lib Dems’ five Cabinet ministers – updated members of the Lib Dems and other European liberals with his work in the Coalition government and on climate issues:

“Lib Dems in government are delivering on our promises on the environment, from the world’s first Green Investment Bank to our drive for green jobs and green growth.

For us, the EU’s role is crucial. That’s why we are working closely with the Green Growth Group – bringing together Ministers from 10 like-minded Member States – to raise the EU’s ambition on energy and climate change policy.”

Giles Goodall, Chair of Brussels & Europe Lib Dems and a candidate for the European elections in South East England (second from the right in the picture), said:

“Lib Dems in Brussels and Europe provide a network for our members in 24 European countries, contribute crucial EU policy expertise to the party, and of course campaign on European issues. The next crucial step for us will be the 2014 elections, where we are determined to support a strong pro-European campaign in the UK.”

Sir Graham Watson MEP, President of the ALDE Party (on the left in the picture), ended by thanking Ed Davey for the work he is doing on behalf of Liberal Democrats in government and the members of the Brussels & Europe Lib Dems for their contribution and support.

Earlier in the day, Ed Davey delivered a speech to the CBI and the Prince of Wales EU Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change.

It was a rich and i;portant day for the liberals in Brussels.
