OPENING OF THE ANTARCTIC TREATY CONSULTATIVE MEETING THIS WEEK.
Brussels will host a ten days conference on the Antarctic treaty, starting tomorrow.
The Palais d’Egmont will be the place where the delegates from different countries will meet to discuss the future of the Antarctic region as they already did two times in the past in Brussels.
This meeting recalls the importance of the belgian contribution to the antarctic policy in the last hundred years.
This beautiful film made by the ministry of foreign affairs of Belgium remembers how Belgium took part to the exploration of this cold zone and the brightness of the belgian contribution in this snow continent.
In 2008, Belgium launched the scientific Princess Elisabeth Station to reconnect with the rich past of Belgium which also launched the king baudouin station in the fifties.
