MARCH.01.2013 – The state reform decided by begian government parties 6 months ago foresees the creation of brussels metropolitan community in rule for the disparition of the great constituency around Brussels for the elections at the lower house (the so called Brussels-Halle-Vilvoorde constituency).

The metropolitan community will be an exchange platform mainly dealing with some mobility issues like new exits on the brussels ring and also maybe economic cooperation. Till now, the frame of the metropolitan community has still to be defined.

Recently, the NVA (the flemish nationalists) took a contrary position to oblige the different cities round Brussels not too participate to this exchange forum of more than 50. They wanted to get motions voted in the city councils of these cities but it doidn’t succeed. In contrary different cities endorsed their future participation to this metropolitan community.
