At Palazzo della Promotrice delle Belle Arti in Turin, open “PEINTRES D’AUJOURD’HUI FRANCE-ITALIE”  from  21 February to 30 march 2013 a wonderful art exposition establishes links with geographically close populations with high cultural affinity like France and Italy.

Curators Prof. Frédérique Malaval  (for the French part) and Prof. Giovanna Barbero (for the Italian part) after 50 years from the 7th edition presented the 8th edition of the exhibition “Peintres d’aujourd’hui France-Italie/Pittori d’oggi Francia-Italia”.

The exposition started in 1951 to give concrete answers to the art of the period, following the socio-cultural upheaval  and even to establish links with geographically close populations and high cultural affinity.

In those decades were born other important initiatives and Turin was inserted in the international panorama mainly with this biennale, considered as major events (Venice Biennale, Rome Quadrennial, Biennale of Sao Paulo Brazil, etc.). Promoters, organizers,  economic supporters and specially  the invited artists were always at first level and later became well-known. Most of them have disappeared. Those still operating and present to the arte exhibition are: Vasco Bendini, Francesco Casorati, Riccardo Licata, Piero Raspi, James Soffiantino; Jean Cortot, Marc Antoine Louttre, Louis Nallard.

Between 1951 and 1961  7 editions were carried out, then nothing. There are several reasons to this clamorous

suppression and they are certainly due to a lack of economic support but above all because it became an exhibition of great weight, able to overshadow  the Biennale of Venice.

Among the artists represented in the first seven editions there are, for example, names like : Picasso, Licini, Baltus, Braque, Prampolini, Dufi, Spazzapan, Giacometti, Marini, Morandi, Widow, Guttuso, African, Drive, Leger, Hartung, Soldiers, Severini, Treccani, just to name a few, but all of the same caliber.
