« A PERDRE LA RAISON » WON THE MAGRITTE 2013

At «Les Magritte du cinema” the most important Belgian movie award ceremony  each year, many countries around the world put their top film for the award ceremony that rewards the most outstanding talents.

Last February the 2nd at the Square in Brussels the third ceremony by members of the Académie André Delvaux awarded 21 prizes for the edition 2013.  All Belgian, Flemish and French, having appeared in films produced by French producers were eligible for various prizes.

The evening skillfully animated by the Belgian actor Fabrizio Rongione in front of BEtv spectators would not have let presage for the winner of this year.

The movie “ A perdre la raison” -inspired by the true  the story of Genevieve Lhermitte who killed her 5 children as she was struck in an infernal trio-relationship- won four prize on the palmares as for the best movie, best director with Mr Joachim Lafosse and the best actress Emilie Dequenne.

The other winner of this third edition was “L’Exercice de l’Etat” the  best international co-production operated in Belgium by les Films du Fleuve of the Dardenne brothers. The political thriller also won the Magritte of best sound and Olivier Gourmet won the Magritte for best actor of the year against three formidable opponents: Matthias Schoenaerts, Benoit Poelvoorde and Jérémie Renier.

Thanks to Charly Herscovici who created the Magritte foundation, the award uses the name of one of the greatest Belgian artists. In fact the ceremony is called “The Magritte Film”, a prestigious label, immediately identifiable.

Magritte Film is not another occasion for self-congratulation among professionals. Its goal is to shine a spotlight on all those who ensure the Belgian reputation abroad, that few movie fans  delight, but are too often ignored by the general public.
