A VISIT TO THE COMMITTEE OF THE REGIONS
Recently, Ms Nathalie GILSON, member of brussels regional parliament and alderman ofIxelles (MR) and Ms Laurence HENNIQUIAU, finance expert at the committee of the regions, organised an intresting afternoon at the committee of the regions to explain toinvited people how the committee of the regions works and what are its main competences.
The citizens enjoyed the explanations of Laurent THIEULE, Head of communication of thecommittee of the regions who answered the numerous questions of the audience afterhaving given different explanations of the working of the committee of the regions.
Mainly, the committee of the regions ensure a collaboration between the localauthorities and the other european institutions regarding policies involving local levels.The committee of the regions is divided in political groups like in the europeanparliament and subcommittees meet to discuss specific topics.

The influence of thecommittee of the regions is advisory but effective because of debates and exchanges of ideas which lead to compromises and change of proposed legislation.
