Echoes Of Valour: debut at Venice Film Festival
Echoes Of Valour: Director Indira Dhar
Echoes of Valour: a film that transcends cultural and geographical boundaries as part of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, an event was held to present Echoes of Valour, a film that explores the universal theme of motherhood through a richly nuanced narrative.
Directed by Oscar-acclaimed director Indira Dhar, the film is a biopic on the mother of an Indian army soldier.
We talked with directos Indira Dhar:
Echoes of valour is a personal journey.
I am a mother of a child. It is my son who inspired me to make this film. When I met Shukla Bandhopadhya, I realised what the mother went through. She lost her child and her world changed. It is a biopic of a mother and that too an Indian mother. A soldier’s parent’s biopic.
How important is the universal theme of motherhood?
Motherhood is universal. Every woman who is a mother will resonate with the film.
What it meant to you to present the film at the Venice Film Festival?
Venice film festival is the world’s oldest film festival and a A listed festival. We had a closed door screening. Echoes of Valour is not an arty film like we see in festivals. It has a lot of Indian elements in the film, like a Bollywood film is made yet has International making standards. We worked very hard on the script and the technicalities for that. The film was liked by a lot of important people including some jury members, media personalities, journalists, critics and industry professionals. Most importantly people from different countries.
The music had a lot of appreciation during the screening of the film.
Sayan Ganguly is an Oscar Acclaimed Music Director, he created the music of the film. He is very choosy with work and I am glad he did my film. We used live orchestra for the film which people are telling worked brilliantly for the film.
