The 13th edition of the Brussels Film Festival closed this Friday 12th of June with the awards ceremony in the presence of the winners. It was followed by the screening of the English movie X+Y, LE MONDE DE NATHAN in the presence of director Morgan Matthews. The official jury was formed by the French director Christian Carion, the Belgian director Olivier Masset-Depasse, the Italian actress Antonella Salvucci, the Belgian actress Erika Sainte, and the Flemish actor Wim Willaert.

Directing the Brussels Film Festival for six years, Ivan Corbisier can be proud of a great success. As a matter of fact, the festival has drown a crowd of 30.000, really happy people coming to watch the films, attend concerts and meetings at this event dedicated to the European cinema.

French director Jacques Doillon, special guest of this edition, has given a masterclass, which was hosted by Inès Rabadan and Véronique Jadin (ARFF), before introducing his film Mes séances de lutte at Cinematek, as a preamble to a retrospective dedicated to him, which runs until August 21st.

The festival opened with the movie LA LOI DU MARCHÉ in the presence of director Stéphane Brizé and the main actor Vincent Lindon, offering a nice meeting in a packed Studio 4 in Flagey.

Traditionally, the Brussels Film Festival presents a film-concert, ZONE LIBRE REVISITS 2001. Fruit of an encounter between two outstanding artistic worlds: Serge Teyssot-Gay, guitarist of Noir Désir and the project Interzone and Cyril Bilbeaud (percussion), Zone Libre provided the mythic “2001: A Space Odyssey” by Stanley Kubrick with a new soundtrack in a shorter but equally hallucinatory version.

Belgian directors, Stéphane & Guillaume Malandrin came to present the world premiere of their new film, Je suis mort mais j’ai des amis, accompanied by the entire cast led by Bouli Lanners, Wim Willaert, Lyes Salem, Eddy Leduc, Vera Van Dooren, and producers Jacques-Henri & Olivier Bronckart et Tomas Leyers.

This edition has equally welcomed director Alain Choquart and actor Jérémie Rénier (LadyGrey), the french director Denis Dercourt (En équilibre), the Dutch director Sacha Polak and her producers Marleen Slot and Dries Phlypo (Zurich), the French filmmaker Christine Carrière accompanied by actors Salomé Dewaels and Catherine Salée (Une mère), Belgian actress Vera Van Dooren (Kidnapping Freddy Heineken), Polish actress Justyna Suwala (Body), the Luxembourg cineast  Donato Rotunno (Baby(a)lone), the Swedish director Beata Gardeler (Flocking), the Polish actress Barbara Kurzaj (Kebab & Horoscope), the German director Christian Frosch (Rough Road Ahead), the Dutch actor Bart Slegers and producer Joram Willink (Gluckauf), director Juris Kursietis (Modris), actor Pierre Rochefort and directorRémy Bezançon (Nos Futurs), the Turkish director Faruk Hacihafizoglu (Snow Pirates),  Elliott Grove (Raindance) and also Stéphane Aubier, Alain Berliner, Laurent Brandenbourger, Jacques Campens, Jacques-Henri Compère, Jean-Luc Couchard, Isabelle de Hertogh, Pierre Dherte, Carlo Ferrante, Méryl Fortunat-Rossi, Christine Grulois, Philippe Kaufmann, Yannick Kergoat, Yvan Le Moine, Stefan Liberski, Yolande Moreau, Vincent Patar, Anne Paulicevich, Patrick Quinet, Jean-Jacques Rausin, Anthony Rey, Joseph Rouschop, Xavier Seron, Frédéric Sojcher, Vincent Tavier, Hubert Toint, Jaco Van Dormael, Marc-Henri Wajnberg, etc, and the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, the Ambassador of Malta H.E.
