5.07.2017. Strasourg. European Parliament President, Antonio Tajani, opened an extension of the European Parliament buildings in Strasbourg dedicated to Václav Havel – Czech writer, political dissident, and politician who served as President of Czechoslovakia and first President of the Czech Republic.
“Václav Havel fought so hard to achieve reconciliation and peace”, – Tajani said.
“His life and his commitment to democracy inspire us and compel us to continue our efforts to build a fairer, stronger Europe which is closer to its citizens.”
“It is, therefore, an honour for all of us to dedicate a part of the European Parliament, an institution at the heart of our democracy, to Václav Havel, a builder of bridges who is one of the architects of our common European identity.”
