The  European Parliament’s candiate for presidency from Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE)  – Guy Verhofstadt – have withdrawn his bid,  deciding to offer his support to European’s People’s party candidate Antonio Tajani  forming a pro-European coalition.

This month Mr. Verhofstadt made a remarkable attempt to reinforce his EP political group by 17 voices in alliance with Italy’s  5-star movement, whose MEPs were ready to join the ALDE, but were rejected by the majority of members of the Liberal group unwilling to compromise their positions on various issues.

The support  of ALDE group makes the EPP  candidate – Antonio Tajani – victory imminent.
