The Indonesian Foreign Minister, Her Excellency Retno Marsudi will be visiting Brussels from 28-29 November 2016.

On 28 November 2016, Indonesian foreign Minister Marsudi and the High Representative – Vice President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini will open the First EU-Indonesia Joint Committee meeting. This Joint Committee will discuss bilateral relations between the two sides ; on what progress has been made and what cooperation can be envisaged in the future.
Indonesia and the EU had signed a Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) which entered into force on 1 May 2014. The PCA outlines different areas of cooperation that would be undertaken by Indonesia and the EU.
The Senior Officials of both Indonesia and the EU will be conducting the Joint Committee meeting on 29 November 2016. They will evaluate the implementation of the PCA and further discuss issues of common concern, such as security, trade and investment, development, and others. Minister Marsudi is also planned to deliver a keynote address during the launching of the Indonesia – European Parliament Friendship Group to be held on 28 November 2016 at the European Parliament. This Friendship Group aims to strengthen ties between Indonesia and the EU at the parliament level. The Friendship Group will be chaired by the Honourable Ana Gomes, MEP, also a former ambassador of Portugal to Indonesia.
