The number of unprocessed asylum applications in Germany had risen to 356,000 by the end of November, Passauer Neue Presse reported.

More than 960,000 migrants have arrived in Germany over the last 11 months, Passauer Neue Presse wrote referring to the German Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The data was obtained from the so-called EASY-System, in which the federal police registers arriving refugees. The newspaper also reported that the number of unprocessed applications of asylum seekers received by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees increased up to 356,000 by the end of November.

Earlier, Prime Minister of Bavaria Horst Seehofer urged German Chancellor Angela Merkel to address the refugee crisis as soon as possible and expressed his disapproval of Merkel’s refugee policy after his state — Bavaria — became overwhelmed with the influx of refugees arriving from Austria.

The European Union, and particularly Germany, has been trying to cope with a large-scale refugee crisis, with hundreds of thousands of undocumented migrants fleeing their home countries in the Middle East and North Africa to escape violence and poverty.

According to the latest Frontex data, about 1.2 million migrants entered the EU over the first ten months of 2015.  The European Commission earlier stated that Europe is currently facing the biggest immigration crisis since WWII.
