IFAH-Europe’s Secretary General Roxane Feller spoke at the ECDC launch event (16th November 2015) calling for collaboration among experts in order to increase awareness on the importance of taking action to reduce resistance to antibiotics in the animal health industry. Great importance was given to the 8th European Antibiotic Awareness Day, en event which takes place every year on 18th November to raise awareness about antibiotic resistance and the importance of prudent antibiotic use.

Not only effords must be made in order to  simply reduce antibiotic use, but they must be made also to actually  encourage investment both in improving existing antibiotics as well as in researching innovative alternatives, said Ms. Feller.

Moreover, the animal health industry insists that improving the quality of management of animals, bio-security, health plans, vaccination, diagnosis and treatment under veterinary care  is important to create an environment where their products  can be used prudently, safely and properly.
