Visit of Villa Grimaldi Fassio in the Ligurian riviera
Villa Grimaldi Fassio shows the Italian and foreign art collection donated to the city by the brothers G.B. and Luigi Frugone in 1935 and 1953.
Portraits, genre paintings, landscapes and sculptures that can be dated from 1860 to 1930, collected according to upper-middle class taste at the start of the 1900. Works from the most important Italian and foreign artists, in part linked with the Belle Epoque.
The museum was set up in Nervi, (Genova) in 1993, in the 18th-century Villa Grimaldi Fassio, purchased by the Municipality of Genoa in 1979.
The Frugone Brothers’ important 19th-20th century art collections comprise paintings, sculptures and drawings by Italian and foreign artists who worked between the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century.
Among these artists : Bistolfi, Fontanesi, Mancini, Messina, Segantini, Signorini,Boldini, Rubino, Milesi, Tito, Michetti and Sorolla y Bastida.
