On 14th June, the EU celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Schengen Agreement (Europe’s borderless) but this time, it was not a good celebration.

Last thursday, one hundred African immigrants were blocked by the athorities in Ventimiglia, Italian town which borders with France. Immigrants, who were travelling to Nice by train were blocked by French police so they stayed in this Italian town were the mayor affirmed that they had to install public services with the colaboration of the Red Cross and Caritas to distribute food for all of them.

During the day, some of them crossed the border into France by road while others stayed in the border where there were some violental movements.

Moreover, many immigrants where the majority of them come from Ethiopia, Somalia and Eirtrea are now staying in different Italian train stations waiting to move to other European countries.
