Palestine has formally joined the International Criminal Court (ICC), a key step towards being able to pursue Israel for alleged war crimes.
The Hague-based Court received Palestinians demand to join the organization on the 2nd of January -the process finished only today. They are the 123rd member of the ICC. From now on, it is possible for them to make a potential legal action against Israel, accused of war crimes on Palestinian territory.
“Palestine has and will continue to use all legitimate tools within its means in order to defend itself against Israeli colonization and other violations of international law” said senior Palestinian official Saeb Erakat.
