LET’S DISAPPEAR IN AN OASE OF NATURE: THE “LAKES DE L’EAU D’HEURE”
In family with kids, for sports, or for a romantic walk, 45 minutes from the town centre of Brussels, the Lakes ‘de l’Eau de l’Heure’ is an unknown and easily reachable destination, a dream destination for every brussels expat.
We take the highway to Charleroi then, from the Charleroi ring, we enter into the magnificent ‘botte du Hainaut’, green and luxuriant in order to live a few hours or a week-end of total relaxation. It’s really easily reachabe a stone’s throw from our concrete and noisy capital.

etween the province of Namur and the province of Hainaut, have the perfect ingredients to relax. There are five different lakes where people are found practicing all watersports: waterski, watergolf, surf, jetski, swimming in the superb aquacentre, powerwalking, hiking, yachting, scuba diving, an extraordinary diversity of sports for all ages, young and old.
There are also possibilities to learn about the history and the ‘why’ of this area that offers such beautiful landscapes. From the high tower of the dam, we enjoy this wonderful region full of lakes, rivers and valleys.
We can also take a tour on the lake in the Red Crocodile, an attraction out of the ordinary from Canada.
We can go for one or more days, or maybe for the weekend. There are multiple possibilities for accommodation: the golden lakes village : amazing cottages with a nice teras with a view on the lake. All this in the middle of serpent-like rivers and reeds. A high class family formula on the banks of the lake ‘de la Plate Taille’.
For those who prefer more democratic prices, the holiday village ‘Landal’ offers budget formulas for families who want to spend a relaxing time on the lakeside.
You can enjoy the pleasant local products in different kinds of restaurants. ‘Crocodile Café’ for local beer tastings for example. For a more gastronomic meal the new ‘Le Tri-Marrants‘ offers a high level bistronomic restaurant with an impecable view on the yachting area of the lakes. Beautiful little sailboats that decorate the landscape duringyour meal, a refreshing sight, you could almost imagine yourself at the beach.
