RENZI: “READY TO FORM THE NEW ITALIAN GOVERNMENT”
After the Enrico Letta’s resignation of the Partito Democratico (PD), the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, has committed the new general secretary of the democrats, Matteo Renzi, the responsibility to form a new government.
Berlusconi has confirmed Forza Italia (FI) as political party in opposition to the executive branch. “We will be opposed to the government but we will evaluate the propositions of the new government as responsible political force in Parliament” said Il Cavaliere. In particular, FI is ready to discuss to reform the electoral law, the judicial system and to reduce taxes.
The other right-center party, the Nuovo Centro Destra of Angelino Alfano, has announced that they will be open to form a new political coalition with PD but they won’t accept any new capital levy and any collaboration with other left parties.
Nichi Vendola, the leader of the left and ecologic party (Sinistra Ecologia Liberta) , will be unavailable to participate in a government formed also by right oriented parties as NCD and liberals. Also Vendola didn’t like some Renzi’s ideas judged as too far from the traditional left ideology.
This afternoon Renzi has also met Beppe Grillo, the promoter of the Movimento 5 Stelle (5 Stars Movement) in a live streaming reunion. The former comedian has interrupted Renzi’s speech and started a long monologue. He has denounced all the reasons why his Movement won’t support his government and political coalition. “We don’t believe you…You represent the financial lobbies and you have the same Letta’s parliamentary coalition. There’s nothing new….We won’t support who want to solve the economic and financial problems that themselves provoked.”. Grillo has continued to stop Renzi from talking and explaining his political project. He has admitted: “Yes, you are right: I’m not democrat with you and with all the old-style politicians like you”.
After the meeting with the M5s, Renzi said to the journalists: “I have to notice that all the political parties have been open to a constructive discussion to solve the Italian problems, except one and you can guess who I mean…” Then he added: “We are ready to form the new Italian government. I am confident that we can succeed and realize important reforms for the well-being of the Italian people.”
On Saturday the new Italian prime minister will announce the new government in order to introduce the definitive political program and the other Ministers before submitting to the vote of confidence in parliament.
