GOOD RELATIONSHIP BELGIUM – GERMANY

Being about at the one hundred years’ birthday of the first world war, this last sunday, in the Military Section of the Cemetery of Namur, for the first time ever, the National Flag of Germany was raised, along with  the flags of Belgium, Canada, France, Italy, Russia, United Kingdom, United States of America and Europe, in front of the Ambassadors of France, Germany and United Kingdom, as well of Mrs. Isabelle Durant, MEP

During this celebration, a young teacher spoke, telling his memories in front of every one. He is the son of one man who was part of the German Army, during the second world war, and of a Belgian lady. That’s why, being a child, in the ’50ties, he had some troubles in his own family, in Germany and in Belgium. Indeed, it was too difficult for the adults to forget the past. And sunday, this young man, being as well a german and a belgian citizen, started to cry at the end of his speach, being applaused by hundreds of people. Germany and Belgium have now good relationships  in one unified European Union.

Many Thanks to the city of Namur and the “Comité des Fêtes de Wallonie” to have organized this nice celebration.
