NEW START FOR THE ROLLER BIKE PARADE
The Roller Bike Parade, this year sponsored by the famous sugar Refineries of Tirlemont, is starting again on Friday 7 June 2013, in Brussels. It will take place all summer long in ten different cities until 27 September, passing pass through Brussels, Braine-l’Alleud, Hasselt, Tirlemont, Nivelles, Antwerp, Charleroi, Ostend, Namur and Leuven !
A first idea for this 2013 edition is to try to beat the world’s record for the largest roller parade, with the aim to dethrone Paris, which managed to bring together 1,188 participants in 2008. So all are invited to Brussels on Friday 13 September to get the Brussels Roller Bike Parade into the Guinness Book of World Records! Parades may get rained out, so Friday 20 September would be the second official date, if the parade on 13 September is cancelled. Those parades are a good opportunity to both doing physical exercise and discovering different parts of Belgian cities, by skating, biking and rolling by other means on wheels, through the streets of the major cities of Belgium.
The Roller Bike Parade is a completely free event for everyone who wants to participate. It is an original, playful concept, focusing this year again on green mobility, health and well-being.
