AFTER THE RESIGNATION OF THE BULGARIAN PRIME MINISTER

FEB.20.2013 -The prime minister of Bulgaria resigned. This is a reaction from the ALDE party in the European Parliament and its leader Graham Watson MEP:

“European Liberal Democrats welcome today’s announcement. We have become increasingly concerned about freedom and the rule of law under Prime Minister Boyko Borissov since he took office in 2009.”

“Together with the likes of Berlusconi and Basescu – Europe’s B team – Borissov has played fast and loose with the rule of law. I hope this B team will not be revived in elections this year.”

“Bulgaria’s citizens are on the right path yet leadership is lacking. Where others see only problems in Bulgaria, Liberals see opportunities. The biggest challenge now is the improvement of democracy and the rule of law in the country and we hope that the next elections will be another step in the right direction.”
