The European Union’s top diplomat Federica Mogherini said on Monday 24.04.2017  that the block wanted better ties with Russia but there are areas of disagreement as position towards Crimea “annexation” in 2014, and ongoing conflict in Eastern Ukraine, subsequently the EU sanctions would stay in place. However the dialog and co-operation in some areas is also possible, like counter-terrorism.

Federica Mogherini, on her first official visit to Moscow in her current role as the EU’s foreign policy chief, said there was no point in pretending that there were not still real problems in relations between Russia and the EU. The same time the EU has been always standing for dialog, and negotiations as a tool for conflict-resolution.
