Montenegro’s Statehood Day #Montenegro #holiday #statehood
Montenegro, situated in the Southeastern Europe, celebrates the 13th of July its Statehood Day, a holiday that takes place every year to commemorate the day in 1878 on which its independence was recognized by the Berlin Congress, becoming the twenty-seventh independent state in the world.
Moreover, in 1941, on the same day, occurred the uprising of the Montenegrins against the Nazi occupiers, and its positioning with the partisan communist movement.
Montenegro, whose capital is Podgorica, is bordered by Albania to the south-east, Kosovo to the east, Serbia to the northeast, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the northwest, Croatia to the west, and the Adriatic Sea to the south-west. Its Independence Day is celebrated the 26th of May, because it was the day where it took place a referendum on Montenegro independence.
It is a country of 13812 km², with620812 in 2011 inhabitants. Thanks to its location on the Balkan Peninsula and Adriatic Sea, Montenegro is a perfect place where we can find a huge diversity of geological base, landscapes, species, climate and soil.
As we have said, Montenegro commemorates very soon its 13 July Statehood, and all over the world there are different celebrations for it. For instance, last year in Brussels, the Manneken Pis wore the national costume of Montenegro and there was a concert followed by a diplomatic cocktail in the premises of the Montenegrin embassy.
