Rwanda, located in eastern Africa, won its independence from Belgium on the first of July in 1962. It was thanks to a resolution from the UN that the trusteeship ended and Rwanda won its complete independence. Since then this day has been observed as its Independence Day.

For celebrating this special day, there are many activities planned. For instance, the country will be hosting programs of national awareness including several international conferences during this week. This morning, for a start, there has been a parade. The rest of the day will continue with other events which are prepared to commemorate this national holiday.
