Once more, Ommegang opens its doors. Ommegang means “walk around” in old Flemish, it is the oldest historical evocation of Brussels, and is celebrated every July in this city
It commemorates the visit of Charles V and his son the Infante Philip in 1549. To recreate this historical event, more than 1400 performers will help relieve this moment under the vigilant eye of the director Giles Daoust who will oversee sound and light for the tenth year in a row.
Among the 1400 extras, we will find 38 folkloric and historical groups, 40 horses, a traveling puppet theater and nine giants. They will pass through the streets of Brussels, starting from the Grand Sablon and ending in the Grand Place. Moreover, opera singers will perform live at the spectacle accompanied by music.
There will be sits available on the Grand Place, where you could presence this parade, and see the emperor and his court.
This extraordinary show will take still take place on July 2nd, 2015 from 21h to 23h.
