Frankfurt, considered as Germany’s financial capital, is the place of important protests.
Indeed, as Germany inaugurates the ECB (European Central Bank) new headquarters, thousands of demonstrators come down very early in the morning in the center of the city to protest against austerity.
Already 88 policemen are injured by stones or gas, cars are set on fire and more that 350 rioters are detained. The group behind the protest is Blockupy. A lot of people from leftist political parties were also there.
The new ECB building costed 1 billion euros – it was planned to cost 850 million at the beginning.
